We are thrilled to announce that we will be offering 2 brand new classes starting on Saturday, January 11th!
Puppy Foundations! Give your puppy the very best start in life! Details: this 5 week course, with Kelly Taylor, will start on Sat., Jan. 11th; classes will meet from 1:30 – 2:30 PM. Puppies must be 16 weeks or younger as of the start date (Jan. 11th). First set of shots are needed to attend this class. Class size is strictly limited to 8 puppies.
This course is designed to be taken prior to or in conjunction with a Puppy Kindergarten course; it does not replace Puppy Kindergarten! In this course, your puppy will learn how to be comfortable around new people, sounds, and novel stimuli, and learn to accept handling, so that they become comfortable at vet visits. They will be introduced to an enrichment plan and schedule, to ensure that they are getting the physical and mental stimulation needed to be a happy and well-mannered family member. Puppies will meet and play with different breeds of appropriate ages, learn to explore their environment at their own pace, and be introduced to obstacle work to build their confidence.
Puppy parents will learn the necessary foundation work that is needed to start their puppy off on the right path, by learning how to keep their puppy’s attention and focus, and will learn a few basic skills, specifically how to lure, capture and shape a behavior!
There will be a couple of breaks for play and socialization during class. Toys (puzzle, kongs, treat balls) will be introduced and utilized during class. Step up slide cubes and agility ladders will be introduced. How to play tug, so that your puppy loves it (and releases the tug), will be practiced! Puppy zen will be a part of each class, as will mat work (“settle”). Nail trimming and handling for vet visits will be practiced.
As you can see, this foundation course will get your puppy off to a good, positive start in life! This course will cost $135 – BUT, if you sign up for this course AND a Puppy Kindergarten course at the same time, and pay in full for both, we will reduce the cost of both to $285 total! This info-laden new course is sure to be popular, so call us at 508-553-9300 today to sign up and give YOUR puppy the very best start!
Canine Good Citizen Prep course! Do you want to prepare your dog to take a CGC test (which, by the way, we have scheduled for Sunday, March 29) – here is a course designed specifically to work on those skills! This 5 week class, with Kelly Taylor, will meet on Saturdays from 12 noon – 1 PM, starting Jan. 11th. Class size is strictly limited to 6 dogs.
The CGC program instills the value of responsible dog ownership and strengthens the bond between your and your dog at home and out in the community. All 10 items that are included in the test (designed by the American Kennel Club) will be reviewed and practiced over the course of this 5 week program. This course is open to all breeds and mixed breeds. The final class in this course will be a mock test to help you prepare for the actual CGC test (test is not included in this course). To learn more about the exercises that will be covered in class and in the test, go to: https://www.akc.org/products-services/training-programs/canine-good-citizen/
Cost for this 5 week course will be $135; completion of a basic obedience course is required to enroll in this CGC Prep course. Call us today at 508-553-9300 to grab one of those class spots!
