Ongoing Breed Handling with Kerry Boyd!  Kerry Boyd, all-breed handler, is our  instructor for the Wednesday 7 PM Breed Handling class.  Cost for this drop-in class is just $10.00; there is no need to pre-register!
3/27/10 Heal Faster, Move Better!  Join us for a workshop presented by Dr. Marjorie McMillan as she discusses physical therapy options for athletic dog injuries.  This workshop for owners of both pet and performance dogs will take place on Saturday, March 27th from 2-4 PM and the cost for this very informative session is just $20!  Learn about the most frequent injuries that occur in pet as well as performance dogs, and learn the appropriate management and treatment to improve recovery and prevent re-injury.  Dr. McMillan was in the first class to be certified in Canine Rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee in 2000.  She opened her Sterling Impression Animal Rehabilitation Center of New England 10 years ago to improve the quality of life, speed recovery from illness, and reduce pain in dogs and cats from puppyhood to senior adulthood.  While this is a workshop for dog owners, quiet, well-behaved dogs are welcome.  To register, please mail in a registration form.  FMI, call us at 508-553-9300.
3/27/10 Nosework!  Two Introduction to Nosework classes will begin Saturday, March 27th, one at 1:00 PM and another at 5:00 PM - and if your dog has a nose, he can play this game!  This is a new sport that has just arrived from the West Coast and is taking the area by storm!  While not a physically demanding sport for dog or handler, it does provide a high degree of mental stimulation for your dog and is great fun for both dog and handler.  Cost for this 6 week class is $180 and pre-registration is required.  Call 508-553-9300 to register.
4/3/10 Intro to Heeling and Rally Obedience!   Do you have dreams of a Rally title or just want to give this fun sport a try? You have to start somewhere, and that's this class!  You will learn the important skill of heeling, plus fronts and finishes, pivots and more! Then you'll move on to learning about the various Rally signs, how to interpret them, and get to practice with your dog on an actual Rally course!  This 5 week course starts Saturday, April 3rd at 2:30 PM.  Cost for this course is $120, pre-registration is required, and your dog must have completed a Beginner obedience course.  Please bring lots of small, soft, tasty treats for your dog, and a crate, too, if you have one.  Call 508-553-9300 to register.
4/8/10 Introduction to Competition Obedience!  Join us as we present an exciting and informative clicker-based class for those who want to get started in Competition Obedience!  This class will help you develop solid foundation behaviors needed for the Novice level of obedience as well as the beginnings of Open and Utility skills. You will learn how to teach your dog to heel, do figure 8's, come front, finish right and left and stay.  We will also begin jumping, scent work, and dumbbell skills.  All is taught so that 'both ends of the leash' have fun.  Class will meet on Thursdays at 8 PM beginning April 8th and will run for 6 weeks.
Completion of a basic obedience course is required; since class size will be limited, pre-registration is necessary.  Cost for this class is $145.  Come have fun with your dog while you both learn about the exciting sport of Competition Obedience!  FMI or to register, call 508-553-9300.
4/11/10 Control Unleashed I with Emma Parsons!  This 6 week course will help to create a focused and confident dog that can work around lots of other distractions, especially other dogs.  Class will be held Sunday mornings from 10 - 11 AM. This class is not for the "aggressive" dog, but for the "reactive" dog that loses his concentration in a "doggy" type environment (no biting dogs, please) - in other words, they lack self-control when they encounter another dog.  Games and exercises will take place during class to help the dog practice attention and teach him to think through his arousal.  This class comes directly from Leslie McDevitt's "Control Unleashed" book.  Dogs and handlers who sign up for this course should have taken a basic obedience training class using clickers; if it has been awhile, or you have never used a clicker to train, you will need to take a couple of private lessons to learn about clicker training.  Cost for this course will be $160 and there will be a limited number of sign-ups taken.  FMI or to register, please call 508-553-9300.
4/11/10 Control Unleashed II!  Continue to work with Emma Parsons to create a focused and confident dog!  This class builds upon the curriculum that was taught in Control Unleashed I, with more opportunities to practice attention and have your dog work through his arousal.  This class will be held Sundays at 11 AM for 6 weeks.  Pre-requisite:  Control Unleashed I.  Cost for this course is $160 and sign-ups will be limited.  To register, please call 508-553-9300.
